The 40-foot high cube shipping container was cut down to 30 feet and converted into a modular brewery. It was placed in the publicly accessible courtyard on the brewery’s property in La Mesa, CA, where the guests and attendees can look into the shipping container through two sets of custom made glass shipping container doors placed on the side of the shipping container. This allows visitors to witness first-hand how the brewing process takes place, all while enjoying one of the amazing selections of beers Helix Brewing Co. has to offer.
We modified the original container dimensions to fit the courtyard while maintaining the structural integrity required for active brewing operations. The glass ISO doors create visibility without compromising security so that the shipping container brewery blends production and guest engagement. Instead of separating back-of-house operations from the public, the design brings the brewing environment forward and makes it part of the overall brand experience.
This shipping container brewery also demonstrates how brewery containers can support on-site activation in compact urban spaces. The modular format allows placement within an existing property, turning an open courtyard into a dynamic focal point. With integrated power solutions and coordinated shipping and handling, the project highlights how containerized systems can align operational needs with a highly visible, customer-facing setting.
