As the foundation of “green” ideology rapidly grows in popularity throughout the globe, increasing numbers of people are utilizing cargo shipping containers as alternatives for habitable modular structures. Developer Jason Teague, partnered with the IPME team, provided an astounding example of this with their transportable shipping container home on Main Street in Venice Beach, California, completed in November 2013. The shipping containers used for this unique, industrial appearing, modern home were modified for the ultimate utilization of space. They provided an affordable price point for the development alongside the benefits of inordinate strength, durability and portability. The three 20-foot shipping containers provide 1000 square feet of functionally comfortable indoor and outdoor modular living space. The container home is bursting with luxuries and amenities including custom cabinetry, an astonishing 3-tone interior and exterior paint job, exterior closet, and washer/dryer. The containers make up a shipping container office, a shipping container bedroom with a shipping container bathroom including a steam room, and a shipping container kitchen filled with the newest appliances.
